the Direct Recording Electronic voting units. The forms that may be presented
are: - A Georgia driver's license which was properly issued by
the appropriate state agency

or other valid identification card issued by branch, department, agency, or entity
of the State of Georgia, any other state or the United States provided such identification

Voters
who registered by mail for the first time in Georgia who did not provide identification
with the registration application may also use either a copy of a current utility
bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document
for one time only. Voters who do not have proper identification are required
to cast a provisional ballot that will only be accepted if the voter provides
the required identification to the Voter Registration and Elections office in
a timely manner (see section on Provisional Voting). Voters who cast absentee
ballots by mail are not required to provide identification, unless they are a
first time voter who registered by mail. What
are the requirements to vote by absentee? Any qualified voter may request
an absentee ballot by mail without having to provide a reason or identification.
In order to be counted, absentee ballots must be returned through the U.S. mail
or delivered by the voter in person. For additional information, please call our
office at (404) 298-4020. An absentee ballot application is required for
each election. You may obtain an application for an absentee ballot from our office
or on our website. If you are physically disabled or 75 years of age or older,
you may choose to submit one application and receive a ballot for the primary,
general and any run-off elections resulted thereof by so indicating on the form.
This would not include special elections which would require their own applications. However,
when voting absentee in person, a reason will still be required, except for the
week of Advance Voting as explained below. Identification is always required when
voting in person. Further, the Absentee Poll will NOT be open the Monday before
an election. The HAVA Act passed in 2003 allows for "Advance Voting" in
person, without providing a reason, at our primary location the week before each
election, (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM). Satellite locations as well as extended
hours for the General Primary and General Elections will be announced. Back
